Oranda Goldfish

The Oranda Goldfish is a fancy variety of goldfish known for its distinctive "wen," a fleshy growth that develops on its head. This unique feature, combined with its elegant, flowing fins, makes the Oranda a popular choice among goldfish enthusiasts. Orandas can grow to about 8 to 12 inches (20 to 30 cm) in length and come in various colors, including red, orange, white, black, and calico patterns.
 
Oranda Goldfish are characterized by their rounded, egg-shaped bodies and long, graceful double fins. The wen, or head growth, is their most distinguishing trait and begins to develop as they mature, giving them a charming and ornate appearance.
 
These goldfish thrive in cooler water, ideally between 65-72°F (18-22°C), and require a spacious, well-filtered tank to accommodate their size and reduce the risk of infection to their sensitive wen. Orandas are peaceful and do well in community tanks with other fancy goldfish varieties.
 
As omnivores, they enjoy a varied diet that includes high-quality flakes, pellets, and fresh vegetables like peas and spinach. With proper care, Oranda Goldfish can live for 10-15 years or longer, making them a beautiful and elegant addition to aquariums.
