Nothobranchius eggersi Killifish
The Nothobranchius eggersi, commonly known as Eggersi Killifish, is a stunningly colorful freshwater fish admired for its vibrant red and blue coloration. Native to temporary pools in Tanzania, this species is adapted to seasonal environments and typically grows to about 2 inches (5 cm) in length, making it ideal for nano or species-specific tanks.
Male Eggersi Killifish display striking red patterns across a blue body, while females have a more subdued, pale coloration. Their vivid hues make them a popular choice among killifish enthusiasts.
These fish thrive in slightly cooler, soft water, ideally between 70-75°F (21-24°C), and prefer a well-planted aquarium with hiding spots. Due to their peaceful nature and specific needs, they are best kept in species-only tanks.
As carnivores, they enjoy a diet of live or frozen foods like bloodworms and daphnia. With a natural lifespan of about one year, Eggersi Killifish offer a short but visually rewarding presence in freshwater aquariums.
