Neolamprologus brevis, commonly known as the Brevis Cichlid or Short Cichlid, is a small and peaceful species native to Lake Tanganyika. Growing to about 2 inches (5 cm), it is one of the smaller shell-dwelling cichlids, often seen inhabiting empty shells for both shelter and breeding. The Brevis Cichlid has a pale yellow to light brown body with dark vertical stripes and a distinct black spot near its dorsal fin. It is peaceful by nature but territorial, particularly around its chosen shell. This species thrives in aquariums with sandy substrates and plenty of shells to mimic its natural habitat.
