Lamprologus ocellatus

Lamprologus ocellatus, also known as the Ocellated Shell Dweller, is a small, striking cichlid from Lake Tanganyika. Typically growing to around 2.5 inches (6.5 cm), it features a golden body with distinct dark spots (ocelli) along its sides, which give it its name. Like other shell dwellers, it prefers to live in empty shells, using them for both protection and breeding. This species is peaceful but territorial, especially around its chosen shell, and thrives in sandy substrate with plenty of shells for hiding. It’s a popular choice for aquarium enthusiasts due to its unique behavior and beautiful coloration.
