Lamprologus multifasciatus, commonly known as the Multifasciatus Cichlid or Shell Dweller, is a small, fascinating cichlid species from Lake Tanganyika. Growing to about 2 inches (5 cm), it is well-known for its unique habit of living in empty shells, which it uses for shelter and breeding. It has a striking pattern of dark vertical stripes on a pale body. Peaceful but territorial, it thrives in aquariums with sandy substrates and plenty of empty shells for hiding.
