Gardneri Killifish
The Gardneri Killifish (Fundulopanchax gardneri) is a brightly colored and hardy freshwater fish, popular among aquarists for its stunning coloration and easygoing nature. Native to Nigeria and Cameroon, this species grows to about 2.5 inches (6 cm) and is well-suited for smaller aquariums.
Male Gardneri Killifish are especially vibrant, displaying an array of blue, green, and red markings, while females are more muted. Their intricate colors and patterns make them a standout species in any tank.
These fish thrive in warm, slightly acidic water, ideally between 72-77°F (22-25°C), and prefer a well-planted tank with hiding spots. They are generally peaceful and can be kept with other small, non-aggressive fish.
As carnivores, Gardneri Killifish enjoy a diet of live or frozen foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp, though they may also accept high-quality pellets or flakes. Hardy and easy to care for, they are a fantastic choice for both beginners and experienced aquarists, bringing a splash of color to freshwater tanks.
